And... another Blanche Barton video!
Just posted another Blanche Barton clip here at the Fenris Wolf Substack. It’s a conversation for/from the Into the Devil’s Den documentary film project (and book):
In the interview with Blanche Barton, she reflects on her experiences and relationship with Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan, particularly during the time leading up to his death. She describes LaVey as a prideful man who was aware of his mortality and made efforts to plan for his legacy, including appointing her as High Priestess and writing a will to ensure the protection of his philosophy and the organization.
Barton shares the emotional impact of LaVey's passing, detailing how devastated she felt and how her son, Xerxes, served as a source of strength during this difficult time. She acknowledges the support of friends who helped her cope with her loss. Barton also discusses the significance of the Black House, LaVey's home, which served as a cultural icon for the Church before it was ultimately torn down.
Throughout the conversation, Barton emphasizes LaVey's belief in the importance of individuality and the idea that the Church of Satan is not tied to a physical location but rather to the community of individuals who embody its principles. She reflects on LaVey's approach to magic, viewing it as a tool rather than an end in itself, and highlights his connection to the legacy of black magic practitioners. Ultimately, Barton conveys that LaVey's influence and legacy continue through the individuals he inspired, affirming that the Church attracts creative and driven people who resonate with his ideals.
