This video is part of the source material for my film project ”Anton LaVey – Into the Devil’s Den” (2019). The interview was also used for my book Anton LaVey and the Church of Satan (2022).
In this interview, film historian Jim Morton shares his experiences with Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan. Morton first encountered LaVey's ideas through "The Satanic Bible" during his teenage years and later met him in the mid-1980s after moving to San Francisco. Their friendship developed primarily over a shared passion for old movies, rather than discussions of Satanism. Morton appreciated LaVey's diverse interests, including music and magic, which were often overshadowed by his controversial persona.
