The following is a lecture I delivered at Morbid Anatomy a few years ago, dealing with my novel The Devil’s Footprint. It’s a good introduction to the book proper and to my motivations and inspirations in writing it.

Thank you all for allowing me to be in this privileged position to talk about my own book of fiction, The Devil’s Footprint. Some people don’t like to talk about their own writing but I’m thankfully not one of them. I often think of myself as my own best critic, and we’ll see if we perhaps get to that point today. Although originally published in 2020, the book was recently issued in a nice hardcover edition, so we have resumed PR work and are pleased that people seem to be really into it. It makes me happy.

Basically I’ll give you a bit of history, some excerpts, and some psychology according to myself as to what the hell it is really all about, and the potential magical power of fiction, etc. I also feel confident that my lovely wife and psychoanalyst Vanessa will chip in to evoke some interesting perspectives as well. And of course I hope that you will too, after I’m done.

Let’s begin with a bit of light spoiling. Some of you may have read the book already and some haven’t. But a schematic overview won’t ruin the reading experience, and I won’t spoil the dramatic actual epi-climax for you.
